Well the good news is that most of the hard work is done.  The sealants and waxes used by Pure Prestige were chosen with durability as a top criterion.  Of course there are a great number of external factors which will affect the duration of protection and aesthetic properties of our services.

  • Recommended Equiptment
  • Washing your car
  • Dressing Your Tires
  • Waxing Your Car
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:
Wash mitt- We recommend authentic lamb’s wool mitts (the plusher the better).  When rinsed, lamb’s wool easily releases trapped contaminants, reducing the chance of abrasive grit staying trapped in the mitt and causing harm to your cars finish.  They are also excellent at holding water and soap so it’s less likely to drag dry grit.  Plusher mitts allow surface contaminates to get absorbed until the mitt is rinsed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buckets- Yes, plural.  We recommend using two buckets with “Grit Guards”.  These are simply grids or screens at the bottom of each bucket for agitating dirt out of the mitts during the washing process to trap the dirt you just removed from the car and keep the water and mitt clean.  Fill one bucket with fresh water and the other with soapy water.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Foam Gun- Hook this device to your garden hose and put a little car soap in it to give your car a nice foam bath.  Using it as a first step will help lift the dirt and fallout from the surface of the paint so that only light pressure is needed during the wipe down with the mitt
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Microfiber towels- The plusher the better, for the same reason you would want a plush wash mitt.  Bring at least two.
WASHING YOUR CAR:
Pure Prestige recommended wash procedure- Incorporate as many or as little steps as you choose to your car wash regime, however these steps combined will yield the best results.  The main goal of this procedure is to prevent damage to your paint finish during maintenance.

Start by picking your environment carefully.  Avoid direct sunlight by either choosing early morning or finding some shade.  Be conscious of the wind; if there is a breeze that can blow dust or seeds onto your car, maybe wait for another day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next, hook your hose to the foam gun and fill the reservoir with car was soap.  If you want to extend the life of wax and sealants, use a mild soap like Meguire’sGold Class or NXT.  If you want a fresh start by using soap that will clean off old wax, use Dawn dish soap.  Spray the car down from top to bottom with a thick layer of foam and let it sit for a minute or two.  If the suds are starting to dry, you waited too long.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now rinse the car with an open ended hose (no nozzle) from the top to the bottom to allow water to sheet off the car.  This rinse will remove most of the loose dirt so you will collect less on the mitt while washing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you are done rinsing, it’s time to reach for the mitt.  Dunk the mitt in the soapy bucket getting it heavily soaked and wash with gentle pressure back and forth.  Smaller sections at a time are safer for your paint as you limit the amount of dirt accumulated on the mitt.  When you have finished a section, dunk the mitt in the fresh water bucket and agitate on the grit guard to release anything you picked up.  Then dunk the mitt in the soapy bucket to agitate again and repeat the process.  Start from the top and work your way down since grit from the road tends to be more harmful to paint than airborne contaminants.  Even better is having a separate mitt for the wheels, grill and nether regionse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that the car is completely wiped down, rinse top to bottom with the same open ended hose and let the water sheet off the car.  Water tends to disperse less when sheeting so it means less to dry and reduced chance of water spots.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the car is well rinsed, we recommend drying your car top to bottom with the heaviest microfiber towels you can find.  Chamois and water blades are potentially harmful because they don’t absorb pressure too well, so if there is anything abrasive between them and the paint, you can bet it will scratch.  Using two towels is recommended.  Wipe a panel with one towel to absorb most of the water, and follow up with the second towel to complete the drying.  If possible, use different towels for the wheels, grill, and nether regions of the car.  Don’t forget to dry the inside of the doors and doorjambs.  Water spots and dirt commonly accumulate there.

TIRES:
Dressing tires is best done with a long bristled brush.  Spray your favorite tire dressing onto the bristles and then brush it onto the tire.  The reason to use a long bristled brush is that it can reachinto the curve at the bottom of the tire which tends to get missed and leaving a dry spot on the tire.  For better gloss, allow it to dry on its own.  If you want a more subtle look, wipe away the excess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can also spritz the wheel wells with the tire dressing to get rid of the dry chalky look that can be an eyesore on a freshly washed car.  There’s no need to wipe away excess, just let it dry on its own.  Some newer and luxury cars have a very tough synthetic fabric in lieu of the standard plastic panels and will not benefit from doing this step.
WAX:
If the water beaded off the cars surface well, you likely have a good layer of wax still there, but don’t let it stop you from adding more coats for aesthetics.  Otherwise a good once over with a quality detail spray should adequately replenish the existing wax.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Choose a wax that is easy to apply and buff away.  Less force is better for preventing micro abrasions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When waxing, using a soft foam applicator is recommended.  Check it regularly for dirt and contaminants.  Since it’s not being rinsed out regularly like a wash mitt, care must be taken because if something abrasive lands on your car while waxing and you happen to pick it up in your wax applicator, you could end up causing micro abrasions to all the panels from that point.  If you drop your applicator on the ground, get a new one.  If you don’t have a new one, wash it very thoroughly and let it dry out.  Do not put it back in the jar and risk contaminating the wax.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your old coat of wax is still good, consider freshening it up with a quality detail spray.  Take two plush microfiber towels with you, spray on the detail spray, wipe it away with one towel and buff off the rest with the other.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now put away your stuff and go for a drive!
